About

Hey, I'm Max.

Max Goldstein

I'm a Trading Application Support Engineer at Cantor Fitzgerald, working alongside the trading desks every day to keep execution moving. I got my start in financial technology in market data engineering at Parameta Solutions — but I've been learning finance since I was young. First bank account at 7 (shout out TD Bank), first stock bought at 13 — every birthday dollar went into Sony.

I still love learning new things about the finance and technology worlds — and when I'm not working or Dooming the U.S. economy, I tend to experiment with things on my home server: the very machine running the website you're on right now.

When I'm not stuck in the 9-to-5 routine and the gym afterwards, I follow my more wanderlusty side and backpack across the world. I've now hit 25+ countries, with no plans of stopping soon. I love learning about other cultures, living in other communities, and sharing a broken-English conversation with someone I happened to cross paths with in a town I can't pronounce.

Speaking of languages — I found some free time and with it I've been studying Chinese (currently HSK2, aiming for HSK3 before 2027). I chose Chinese because it's another impossible challenge, a Sisyphean task I can always sink more time into, learn for hundreds of hours, and still never be all that great at. Which is how I view much of the work I do: improving and learning is the fun part. Being perfect is never the goal — the pursuit of it is.

Data Engineering Professional Certificate

ETL in Python against REST and HTML sources, shell scripting and cron for scheduling, and a lot of SQL across multi-table schemas. First time I built a pipeline end to end rather than a script.
